What’s going on my friend?! Happy freaking Monday. Why won’t Monday’s just disappear?? Amirite??
It’s been a week since we’ve last spoke. I wish I could hang out on here more often and chat you up all week but, #worklife. – insert eye roll here –
The last 3 days I have been on a damn MISSION to eat all of the chocolate in my house. This is a problem. I am a food hoarder.
My baking drawer currently has about 6-7 dark chocolate bars. Possible more. Normally, I nibble on a few squares at night to satisfy my sweet tooth. My self-control is typically pretty decent.
However, I have already powered through an entire bag of semi-sweet dark chocolate chips within the last 48 hours. Please, PLEASE pray for me as I use all of my self-control to not dive head first into the rest of my dark chocolate.
Why do I have 6-7 dark chocolate bars in my baking drawer you ask? Well, I don’t want to run out.
I’m just looking out for the lives and wellbeing of those that live with me.
Okkk, also traffic…
If I run out of dark chocolate I can just run to the grocery right? WRONG. This is the Bay Area, my friend.
Sure there’s a grocery store 0.5 miles from mi casa. But it might take me 6 years to get there on a good day.
But really, it would take me longer than I would like and time is precious. I hate wasting an hour of my day just to make a grocery run for one thing. Who’s got time fo’ that?
NOT ME BABE.
I try to keep the majority of my weekly errands to a minimum so I have more time to do things that I enjoy. Like, entertain you with my rants. 😀 Or have some fun doing my favorite hobbies.
So yes, I tend to buy in bulk to save money, time and MY FREAKING SANITY. So, food hoarding is how I roll.
My food hoarding started in veterinary school when I was trying to stay paleo, but also afford my rent. HAH. Paleo is NOT cheap.
So whenever a product was on sale that I knew I would eventually use in a recipe or something, I’d buy it in bulk to save some dolla’s. However, I’m not in veterinary school anymore and even though I have a big girl job, I still buy in bulk.
Cause why not?
Saving a little here and there means bigger savings over the long run for things like vacations or hobbies.
But on the flip side, I can imagine the challenges of living with me and my food hoarding tendencies. I mean, the lack of kitchen space for one.
Danny and I had a talk about me not buying so much in bulk when we moved in together. I can imagine it’s a little overwhelming to open one of our cabinets only to find 18 cans of tomato paste, 4 jars of almond butter, 10 bottles of coconut aminos and 7 cans of coconut milk.
I really can’t say that I blame him!
But to be fair, I’ve gotten a little better since we’ve moved in together. If I do buy in bulk, I try to plan and only buy what I need or what I will be immediately using.
I’m just making sure we’re prepped for the zombie apocalypse.
The first step of recovery is admitting you have a problem.

I blame it on genetics. You should see Mom’s food hoarding… Makes mine look tame.

They’re made with rolled oats, semi-sweet dark chocolate chips, shredded coconut, raisins, chia seeds, almond butter and maple syrup. They are gluten free, dairy free, vegan and vegetarian. Unfortunately, oats are technically not paleo, but I’ve incorporated them back into my diet to help fuel my workouts.
